The Republic Services Inc., Unites Acquisitions Using Its Signature Branded Name.
A major recycled plastics collector is unifying its dozens of different brands under a single, familiar banner.
Republic Services Inc., of Phoenix, is the nation’s second largest waste management company, collecting recyclables, including plastics, and operating material recovery facilities around the country.
The company has grown from its humble Florida roots through a series of acquisitions over the past couple of decades. In doing so, the company often kept the existing company names in markets where it made deals and continued to grow.
But now Republic Services has decided to unify under the Republic Services name nationwide and eliminate more than 30 brands.
“After several months of extensive research, we believe we have created a unique brand positioning and tagline that will resonate with customers, and differentiate Republic in our industry,” said Jon Vander Ark, executive vice president of customer development.
The company’s new tagline is “We’ll Handle it from Here.”
The move will eliminate one well-known brand known in particular in various parts of the country: Allied Waste. Allied Waste, itself, had been the No. 2 waste management company until Republic Services’ acquisition of that firm in 2008.
